PTIH defines Paper Only Patients as patients who prefer their home exercise prescriptions in printed form and decline to use the In Hand Health Patient App.
To serve these patients:
- When creating the patient record, any of the following steps will place a patient into Paper Only Patient status:
- Leave the patient's email address field blank
- Complete the email field and instruct the patient to ignore the email he or she will receive with instructions to access and sign into the In Hand Health Patient App.
- (See Create New Patient: Add Information)
- Build and prescribe a home exercise program as you would for any patient. (See Prescriptions: Getting Started.)
- Print the prescription at the end of the session and provide it to your patient. (See Prescriptions: Prescribing, Expiring, Printing, and Prescribing Again.)
Important Notes About Paper Only Patients:
- Paper Only Patients are essentially declining the Continuing Care subscription and will not generate any revenue for your clinic.
- Paper Only Patients will appear in your Patient Dashboard with a gray background only if they have an active episode. If a Paper Only Patient does not have an active episode, his or her record can be accessed from the Patient Care | All Patients menu and selecting the Inactive radio button.
- If you leave the patient's email/username blank, no compliance tracking, pain or progress reports, or messaging will appear in that patient's record. If you enter an email for a Paper Only patient, these items will appear in the patient's record but will remain empty assuming the patient never accesses the In Hand Health Patient App.
